John M

John Mateyko has been a Series 7, 63, 65 Registered Representative (RR) and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) since 2000. As a Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor (APMA®), Wealth Management Certified Professional (WMCP ™) and Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®), John specializes in helping clients create Retirement Income Plans. He firmly believes that retirement income planning requires different skills and tools than those used for wealth accumulation.

Individuals who hold the APMA® designation have completed a course of study encompassing client assessment and suitability, risk/return, investment objectives, bond and equity portfolios, modern portfolio theory and investor psychology. Advisors have hands-on practice in analyzing investment policy statements, building portfolios, and making asset allocation decisions including sell, hold, and buy decisions within a client’s portfolio. Additionally, individuals must pass an end-of-course examination that tests their ability to synthesize complex concepts and apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations.

The WMCP™ certification is a postgraduate level specialist qualification which encompasses the breadth of knowledge needed to provide a highest quality service to clients. It is a progressive qualification comprised of several units: Life-Cycle, Goal Based Planning, Efficient Investment Portfolios, Financial Instruments, Strategic Wealth Management, and Complex Planning Strategies. It provides a sound grounding in economics and interpretation of economic statistics, financial statements, investment analysis, portfolio construction and applied wealth management.

The RICP® educational curricula is one of the most complete and comprehensive programs available to professional financial advisors looking to help their clients create sustainable retirement income. The rigorous three course credential requires advisors to master retirement income planning, a key focus area not fully covered in other professional designation programs. Areas of study include: retirement portfolio management techniques, mitigation of plan risks, proper use of annuities, employer-sponsored benefits analysis, and determining the best Social Security claiming age.

Advisors who have earned their RICP® designation can provide advice on a broad range of retirement topics including: income needs and objectives, estate issues, risks to existing retirement income, Social Security, health insurance and housing decisions, and income taxation.

In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife Slavyana, son Alexander, and their Gold Coast Dog Show “Participation Award” winning dog, Rosco.
